A pouf is the most flexible seat in a lounge. It gives an extra seat at a table that gets crowded, a footrest by a club chair, or a perch next to a banquette. This one is a simple drum in oatmeal bouclé. Cognac leather piping marks the top edge and the base, linking it to leather chairs nearby. A brushed brass plinth is set back underneath, so the pouf seems to float slightly and the base stays clear of shoe scuffs.
The top is firm enough to sit on and flat enough to hold a tray at a pinch. In practice it often ends up doing both.
Construction
- Plywood drum frame with high-density foam top
- Bouclé shown; any contract fabric, leather or vinyl
- Cognac leather piping
- Brushed brass plinth with floor glides
Use groups of three or four around a low table in a cigar lounge, as overflow seating in a hotel bar, or at the end of a sofa. Bouclé is soft but snags with rings and bag clasps, so for busy floors we suggest a tight-weave textured fabric with a similar look.
