The Crescent is the curved sofa that defines a contemporary cocktail lounge. One unbroken arc, about 79 in (200 cm) long, with the back rolling round into both ends so there is no hard arm, lets three or four guests face inward toward a single table while the open side keeps the room sociable.
The seat is one full-length cushion cut to the curve, and a brushed-brass strip runs along the top of the back, following the arc without a joint. The base is a recessed dark timber plinth that echoes the curve.
Shown in an oatmeal bouclé with contrast piping. For bar service we usually build it in protected or semi-aniline leather, or a contract velvet; the shape works in all three.
Construction
- Curved hardwood frame with internal bracing on the long span
- One-piece seat cushion cut to the arc
- Brass capping strip following the back
- Recessed timber plinth
We set the radius and length to your plan. Two Crescents back to back make an island in the middle of a large room.
